How to play PinPoint – find places on the map

PinPoint is a free daily map game and geography map quiz. Instead of guessing a country, you look for one exact spot on the globe – and every place hides a story from on this day in history.

  1. 1. Read the name of the place

Each round shows five real places – cities, towns, battlefields, islands and famous buildings. Easy places come with their country; for medium and hard ones you only get the name.

  2. 2. Find it on the map and drop a pin

Spin and zoom the 3D globe, tap the exact spot and press Confirm. There are no labels on the map – only your own geography knowledge. Tap again to move the pin before you confirm.

  3. 3. Score up to 200 points per place

A pin within 25 km of the place scores the full 200 points; after that your score falls smoothly with the distance. In the daily challenge you have 60 seconds per place and a speed bonus of up to +20 – a maximum of 1100 points.

  4. 4. Unlock the story – on this day in history

Every place is linked to something that happened there on today's date: a battle, a discovery, a famous birth, a first flight or a treaty. After each answer you read the story, can save your favourites with ❤️ and share them with friends.

A new set of five places arrives every day at midnight UTC – the same for every player. Want more? Practice mode gives you unlimited rounds, or try the other games on the GuessCountry home page.
