💡 Zamora was founded on 6 October 1549 in southeastern Ecuador, at the confluence of the Zamora, Bombuscaro, and Jamboé rivers at the base of the Andes. Known as the Mining Capital of Ecuador after a boom in gold discoveries and as the City of Birds and Waterfalls for its wildlife, it became the capital of Zamora-Chinchipe province.
