💡 Iași is first documented on 6 October 1408, in the historical region of Moldavia in north-eastern Romania. It went on to serve as the capital of the Principality of Moldavia from 1564 to 1859, of the United Principalities until 1862, and of Romania itself from 1916 to 1918.
