💡 On 2 November 1973, four hijackers seized a Yakovlev Yak-40 flying Aeroflot Flight 19 from Bykovo Airport near Moscow to Bryansk, just minutes before it was due to land. The aircraft was diverted to Moscow's Vnukovo Airport, where the hijackers demanded money and a flight to Sweden before authorities stormed the plane and freed the hostages. Two people died in the incident, one of the first such storming operations in Soviet aviation history.
