💡 On 8 October 1998, Oslo Airport opened at Gardermoen, on the border of Nannestad and Ullensaker in Akershus county, Norway, about 19 nautical miles northeast of Oslo. It grew into the second-largest airport in Scandinavia and the Nordics, serving as a hub for Scandinavian Airlines and a base for Norwegian Air Shuttle, Norse Atlantic Airways, and Widerøe.
