💡 On 6 October 1976, a bomb brought down Cubana de Aviación Flight 455, a Douglas DC-8 flying from Barbados to Jamaica, killing all 73 people aboard, including every member of the Cuban national fencing team. Several anti-Castro Cuban exiles with links to the CIA were later implicated in the bombing, and Cuba accused the US government of complicity in the attack.
