💡 The Calouste Gulbenkian Museum opened in Lisbon, Portugal, on 2 October 1969, built to house one of the world's most important private art collections, founded by the Armenian, Portugal-based oil magnate Calouste Gulbenkian. Its holdings span Ancient Egypt to the early 20th century and include works by Rembrandt, Monet, Rubens, Manet, Renoir, Degas, and Turner alongside jewellery by René Lalique.
