💡 The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao opened in Biscay, Spain, on 18 October 1997, inaugurated by King Juan Carlos I with an exhibition of 250 contemporary works of art. Designed by the Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry and built beside the Nervion River, it became one of the largest museums in Spain and part of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation's network.
