💡 On 2 October 1413, in the town of Horodło, King Władysław II Jagiełło of Poland and Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania sealed the first of three acts known as the Union of Horodło. Two further acts, drawn up by the Polish nobility and the Lithuanian boyars, gave Lithuania greater autonomy by allowing its nobles to choose their own Grand Duke after Vytautas's death.
