💡 On 10 October 1471, the Swedish regent Sten Sture the Elder faced forces led by the Danish king Christian I at Brunkeberg, near Stockholm. Sture's decisive victory weakened the Kalmar Union and left him the effective ruler of Sweden as Lord Regent for most of the rest of his life.
