💡 The Battle of Cedar Creek was fought on 19 October 1864 in the Shenandoah Valley of northern Virginia, during the American Civil War. Confederate forces under Lieutenant General Jubal Early seized the advantage that morning, capturing over 1,000 prisoners, but Union troops led by Major General Philip Sheridan rallied by late afternoon and drove Early's army back, recapturing their own guns along with most of the Confederate artillery.
