💡 On 29 October 1888, the imperial train carrying Emperor Alexander III of Russia and his family from Crimea to Saint Petersburg derailed at high speed near Borki station, in what became known as the Borki train disaster. Twenty-one people died at the scene and two more later, though the Emperor himself was said to have held up the collapsed roof of the royal carriage while his family escaped unhurt.
