💡 On 5 November 1556, the Mughal forces of the young emperor Akbar and his guardian Bairam Khan clashed with King Hemu, who had crowned himself Vikramaditya after seizing Delhi and Agra weeks earlier. The armies met at Panipat, not far from the site of the First Battle of Panipat in 1526, and Akbar's forces prevailed. Hemu, also known as Hemchandra Vikramaditya, had earlier defeated Mughal forces under Tardi Beg Khan at the Battle of Delhi.
